With 90 years of experience, the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) plays an important role for all Canadians. Indeed, CGSB standards cover many areas ranging from petroleum and the national flag to the transportation of dangerous goods, organic farming and non-destructive testing. These positively affect the quality of the products and services provided to Canadians. Recognized for its expertise, the CGSB has a roadmap marked by excellence and the continuous surpassing of its objectives.
A leader in the development of consensus standards and independent, impartial assessments of quality and environmental programs, the CGSB offers effective quality management and standardization services in both official languages. In providing its services, the organization relies on the expertise of various representatives from the public and private sectors and volunteers who sit on its committees. In this way, the CGSB is able to support international harmonization efforts in standards development and conformity assessment.
