Project description
The NGFV project is working to replace the current Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) fleet of HMMWV, also known as HUMVEEs, which are reaching the end of their service life. The CAF will use the new NGFV in domestic and overseas operations, and in counter-terrorism activities.
The Industrial and Technological Benefit (ITB) Policy, including Value Proposition, will apply to this procurement.
Procurement progress and engagement
2019 and beyond
- July 18, 2019: Initial request for information: Next Generation Fighting Vehicle project (W6399-19KH53/A) was released, seeking initial information from and providing feedback to industry regarding the NGFV project
- October 28 to November 15, 2019: Vehicle demonstrations were held at Canadian Forces Base Petawawa
- The information gathered is being used to help define the project requirements
- May 26, 2020: Updated request for information: Next Generation Fighting Vehicle project—Update (W6399-19KH53/B) was released, providing industry with an update on the status of the project, and sharing documents prepared for the 2019 vehicle demonstrations held in Petawawa and questions and answers
- November 27, 2020: Letter of interest and request for information: Next Generation Fighting Vehicle (W6399-19KH53/C) were released, providing industry with an update on the status of the project
- July 22, 2021: Updated letter of interest and request for information: Next Generation Fighting Vehicle project (W6399-19KH53/D) were released, providing industry with updated project information, including operational and sustainment requirements as well as financial requirements, and seeking relevant feedback from industry to allow Canada to refine the NGFV scope of work
- Canada is also seeking feedback on the application of the ITB Policy, including value proposition, to the NGFV project
- Fall 2021: As anticipated, one-on-one meetings were held with all interested respondents
- April 29, 2022: Release of invitation to qualify
- June 27, 2022: Invitation to qualify closing date
- July 25, 2022: Release of the official qualified suppliers list
- Fall 2023 (anticipated): Formal solicitation—Request for proposal (RFP) is expected to be released to the qualified suppliers, based on industry feedback to date and on the draft RFP
