What do we buy
Public Services and Procurement Canada is to establish a SA for government departments, agencies, Crown corporations, and organizations participating in the Canadian Collaborative Procurement Initiative (CCPI).
This procurement tool is used for the purchase, delivery and installation of rotary office and conference chairs, as well as side chairs. The rotary office chairs listed in the tool should meet the specifications listed in the majority of ergonomic assessments.
How do we buy
- The procurement tool for this commodity is a supply arrangement (SA)
- Suppliers for this commodity are manufacturers and resellers
- Suppliers and products offered in the catalog are pre-qualified
- Chairs will be required to meet or exceed technical requirements and testing standards for the pre-qualification
- A request for bid is issued for all requirements in excess of $25,000 before a contract can be awarded. Suppliers compete by offering prices for base model chairs, with various add-on options
- The contract is awarded based on lowest price
Socio-economic aspects
- 2 streams of suppliers will be established; 1 open to all suppliers and the other will be a set-aside for Indigenous Businesses
- Supply issued by category of seating, region by region basis allowing participation by small and medium enterprises (SME’s)
- Chairs listed on the SA must meet environmental records for green office seating and will lead towards credits for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification
Value / Savings / Considerations
As a result of the business volume, economies of scale are generated by the use of SA. Canada benefits from having quick access to a list of pre-qualified suppliers as well as an efficient procurement method to fulfill their requirements. Requirements are competed amongst pre-qualified suppliers. Contracts are awarded to the supplier that can meet the requirements at the lowest price.
