What do we buy
Public Services and Procurement Canada is to establish a SA for government departments, agencies, Crown corporations, and organizations participating in the Canadian Collaborative Procurement Initiative (CCPI).
This procurement tool is for the purchase of wood veneers freestanding products.
How do we buy
- The procurement tool for this commodity is a SA
- Suppliers for this commodity are typically manufacturers and resellers
- The furniture offered under the SA will be required to meet or exceed standards based technical requirements
- A request for bid is issued for all requirements in excess of $25,000 before a contract can be awarded.
- The contract is awarded based on lowest price
Socio-economic aspects
- The SA is opened under 2 different streams: 1 open to all suppliers and the other will be a set-aside for Indigenous owned Businesses
- SAs awarded by category and region under markets set-aside for Indigenous businesses allow the participation of small and medium enterprises
- Products listed on the SA will meet environmental considerations and will lead towards credits for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification
Value / Savings / Considerations
As a result of the business volume, economies of scale are generated by the use of SA. Canada benefits from having quick access to a list of pre-qualified suppliers as well as an efficient procurement method to fulfill their requirements. Requirements are competed amongst pre-qualified suppliers. Contracts are awarded to the supplier that can meet the requirements at the lowest price.
