On May 26, 2016, the Minister of Public Services and Procurement, responsible for the Canada Post Corporation, issued an interim prohibitory order to stop the distribution, through Canada Post, of the tabloid Your Ward News. This action followed public complaints about the content of the publication.
On January 6, 2017, as requested by the affected parties, the Minister appointed a Board of Review in accordance with section 44(1) of the Canada Post Corporation Actto review the decision.
To support its work, the Board of Review held 11 hearings between April 2017 and February 26, 2018, in Toronto.
The Board of Review submitted its report to the Minister of Public Services and Procurement and Accessibility on August 29, 2018.
On November 15, 2018, the Minister, having reviewed all the materials before her, including the recommendations from the Board of Review, issued a new decision to replace the interim order.
