Pension Entitlement—Canadian Armed Forces pensions
Pension entitlement information packages
The following packages provide you with important pension information that you will need to consider when releasing from the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) or ceasing to participate in either of the CAF Pension Plans. You will also find a detailed explanation of your pension entitlements and benefit options.
Pension entitlements and benefit options
Your pension entitlements and the options available to you are based on the years of pensionable service that you have to your credit when you release or stop participating in either of the CAF Pension Plans.
Important: If you are entitled to a benefit other than an immediate annuity (unreduced pension) you may have a number of benefit options available to you. Selecting your benefit option is time sensitive and in certain situations, a delay in selecting your option may have financial implications. Therefore, it is recommended that you review the appropriate package below before you release from the CAF.
If you have less than two years of pensionable service when you release or stop participating in either of the CAF Pension Plans, you are entitled to return of contributions and your options in respect of that benefit are outlined in the following package: Pension Entitlement Information Package – Less than two years of pensionable service.
If you have two or more years of pensionable service when you release or stop participating in either of the CAF Pension Plans, your pension entitlements and benefit options are outlined in the following package: Pension Entitlement Information Package – Active member with two or more years of pensionable service.
