Compensation Advisor (CA)
- | Provides the Pension Centre contact information
- | Certifies salary and service within 20 working days following the Pension Centre request
- | Receives form PWGSC-TPSGC 2097 from the Pension Centre to confirm pension transfer
- | The compensation advisors are responsible to start deductions upon receipt of a "Notice to Start Service Buyback Deductions" PWGSC-TPSGC 2270. Immediate action to start the deductions should be taken upon receipt of the form.
- | Receives form PWGSC-TPSGC 2097 to confirm the purchase of the balance of service from the Pension Centre

Public Service Pension Centre (Pension Centre)
- | Refers eligible clients to the Web Pension Portability and Pension Benefit Information Packages
- Determines client's eligibility for pension transfer and provides respective steps to initiate negotiation, if no agreement in place
- Completes the employee's information section of Appendix A/A1 and forwards it to the plan member. Upon receipt of completed form, calculates pension transfer estimate
- | Provides client with individualized information package on pension portability, including information on service buyback, the impact on the plan member's pension benefits, the pension transfer estimate and a copy of Appendix B/B1 duly completed
- Receives Appendix B/B1, calculates past service pension adjustment (PSPA) amount and obtains Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) approval, if required
- Forwards the request letter to the other plan administrator
- | Receives funds from the other plan administrator, processes pension transfer, completes respective forms, updates the pension system and advises client accordingly
- | Forwards forms PWGSC-TPSGC 2097 to the compensation advisor to confirm the pension transfer, and PWGSC-TPSGC 2057 to the plan member for the estimate for the balance of unpurchased service
- | Receives form PWGSC-TPSGC 3006 from the plan member, processes service buyback for the balance of unpurchased service and any other service buyback, if applicable. Forwards form PWGSC-TPSGC 2097
Employee or Potential Plan Member
- | Requests a pension transfer estimate from the Pension Centre
- Completes employee's authorization section of Appendix A/A1 according to timelines, before forwarding to the other plan administrator
- | Receives pension transfer estimate with individualized information package from the Pension Centre
- | Completes Appendix B/B1, according to timelines, to confirm the request to proceed with the pension transfer. Provides proof of age and personal documentation to the Pension Centre (if not already provided)
- Ensures a follow up with the other plan administrator
- | Forwards form PWGSC-TPSGC 3006 to the Pension Centre if he opts to pursue buyback for the unpurchased service
- | Receives confirmation of the payment transfer from the Pension Centre
Other Plan Administrator
- | Processes Appendix A/A1 received from the Pension Centre
- | Provides relevant information to the Pension Centre (salary and service records, pensionable earnings and pension adjustment [PA] values)
- | Receives the request for funds and relevant information from the Pension Centre
- | Transfers funds to the Pension Centre
