Apply the public service pension plan rules of eligibility to commence contributions.
Enter data in the Regional Pay System (RPS) to commence pension plan contribution deductions, including Supplementary Death Benefit (SDB) if applicable, from payroll. Complete "Plan Member Contact Information" form PWGSC-TPSGC 577 and fax to the PSPC within three business days from the date the pension plan contribution deductions commence for a new plan member and the transaction updates in history in the RPS. For Client organizations not using the RPS: Enter data in the pay system to commence pension plan contribution deductions, including SDB if applicable, from payroll. Complete the "Screening Form for Public Service Corporations" PWGSC-TPSGC 2013 and the "Plan Member Contact Information" form PWGSC-TPSGC 577 and forward both to the PSPC within three business days from the date pension plan deductions commence for a new plan member. For client organizations that do not have access to the Central Index System (CIS): Contact the PSPC by telephone to obtain an employee Personal Record Identifier (PRI) prior to sending forms PWGSC-TPSGC 2013 and PWGSC-TPSGC 577. |
| Create the plan member's account in the pension system (Penfax) for client organizations not using the RPS.
When requested, assign an employee PRI to client organizations who cannot access the Central Index System (CIS). Enter the plan member's contact information into Siebel upon receipt of the PWGSC-TPSGC 577. Based on data transferred from the RPS or provided by the client organizations not using the RPS, generate a "Notification of Plan Membership" (PWGSC-TPSGC 2018) and forward the employer copy to the client organization. When discrepancies are identified, investigate to validate employee's eligibility to become a member of the public service pension plan. |
Deduct arrears or refund an overpayment of pension plan contributions, as required. |
Plan Enrolment Package | Read the information and follow instructions contained in the Plan Enrolment Package.
Complete the "Enrolment Information and Acknowledgement of Plan Membership" form PWGSC-TPSGC 571 and return to the PSPC in the envelope provided. |

Visit the "Your Public Service Pension and Benefits" Web portal for information on eligible dependants and the SDB plan, including how to designate a beneficiary. If unable to access the Web portal to self-serve, contact the PSPC for information on eligible dependants and/or the SDB plan, including how to designate a beneficiary. |

"Acknowledgement of Plan Membership" PWGSC-TPSGC 571 not received by the PSPC | Upon notification from the PSPC, acknowledge plan membership by completing the "Enrolment Information and Acknowledgement of Plan Membership" form PWGSC-TPSGC 571 provided in the Plan Enrolment Package sent earlier, and returning it to the PSPC.
If a Plan Enrolment Package was not received or is lost/misplaced, contact the PSPC to request a new/duplicate one. With direction from and/or the assistance of the PSPC, access the online Plan Enrolment Package available on the "Your Public Service Pension and Benefits" Web portal. Read the information and follow instructions contained in the Plan Enrolment Package, complete the "Enrolment Information and Acknowledgement of Plan Membership" form PWGSC-TPSGC 571 in full, and return to the PSPC. |
Contact the plan member to request confirmation of receipt of the Plan Enrolment Package and the completion and return of the "Enrolment Information and Acknowledgement of Plan Membership" form PWGSC-TPSGC 571 .
Provide a new/duplicate Plan Enrolment Package, including the PWGSC-TPSGC 2018 (with an amended issue date if the original package was not received) to the plan member. Record details of the conversation with the plan member, if applicable. |

Error identified by PSPC – pension plan contributions start date (PWGSC-TPSGC 2018 not generated) | With the assistance of the PSPC, investigate the error and update the RPS, or applicable pay system for client organizations not using the RPS, to ensure pension plan contribution deductions are initiated from the correct effective date. | Investigate the error and, with the assistance of the compensation advisor, determine the employee's correct eligibility date.

With the assistance of the PSPC, investigate the error and, if required, update the information on the RPS, or applicable pay system for client organizations not using the RPS, to correct the error. |
If notified by the client organization that information on the PWGSC-TPSGC 2018 is incorrect, investigate the error with the assistance of the compensation advisor and request that the RPS, or applicable pay system for client organizations not using the RPS, be updated.
