SUBJECT: Change in Hours of Work

1. PURPOSE

1.1 The purpose of this directive is to clarify pay input and calculation procedures when there is a change in rate of pay (e.g. acting pay, promotion, transfer) as well as a change in hours of work.

2. POLICY

2.1 The attached pay input procedures must be adhered to when reporting acting pay when there is a retroactive period involved.

2.2 Please note that salaries shown are for example purposes only and do not represent actual groups or levels. Examples attached denote acting pay situations only.

Exceptions

  • Annex "F"/Example 6 represents identical hours of work.
  • Annex "G" and "H"/Example 7 and 8 represents a specific group: Firefighters.

3. PROCEDURES/INSTRUCTIONS

3.1 Pay Input Requirements

Examples have been prepared as per instructions in Personnel Pay-Input Manual (PPIM) 4-4-18-1 (Batch), PPIM 5-9, PPIM 14-4-8 (On-Line).

3.2 Calculation Requirements

These pay transactions cannot be calculated automatically by the Pay System and as such, a message is produced to paying offices for manual intervention.

Pay Offices must calculate retro activity payments based on the instructions detailed in Annex A, B, C, D, E, F and G. Departments should follow these procedures when verifying the accuracy of the payment.

4. INQUIRIES

4.1 Any queries on the foregoing may be addressed by telephone to the Advisory Services Group, Lorraine Cusson 819-956-2094 or Diane Leduc 819-956-2065.
