SUBJECT: Year 2000 Compliance Accreditation

1. PURPOSE

1.1 The purpose of this directive is to inform the compensation community that the Regional Pay System, the Contributor System, the Pension systems (Judges System, CFSA System [Canadian Forces Superannuation Act], PSSA System [Public Service Superannuation Act]), and the stand alone systems (SMIRS System [Superannuation Master Index Retrieval], ESTEL System [Estimate and Election], EOC System [Estimate of Cost], Pension Division System [PDS]) have received their Year 2000 compliance accreditation from the Year 2000 Project Office.

1.2 Use of the masculine is generic and applies to both men and women.

2. BACKGROUND

2.1 Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) has taken the Year 2000 challenge very seriously. We have responded with a lot of effort and resources to the need to have all our compensation, pay and stand alone systems Year 2000 compliant. These systems have been successfully tested and are in production. They have been proven capable of functioning up to and after the year 2000 based on PWGSC's compliance procedures.

2.2 The interfaces between these systems and other clients systems have been tested in collaboration with the concerned departments and the results show that our systems will be operational on Year 2000 and beyond.

2.3 There is a contingency plan in place for the mentioned systems. Additional information regarding this plan will be forwarded via a directive.

2.4 Most of these systems have had minor changes. Therefore, there is no training requirement on the specific Year 2000 changes.

3. INQUIRIES

3.1 Any request for information regarding the foregoing should be addressed to your PWGSC Compensation Services Office.
