SUBJECT: Premium Rate Change for The Recreation Association of the Public Service of Canada

1. PURPOSE

1.1 The purpose of this directive is to advise compensation advisors of a change in the monthly premium rates for The Recreation Association of the Public Service of Canada - Deduction code 789, effective July 1, 2010.

2. POLICY

2.1 Effective July 1, 2010, the Province of Ontario implemented the harmonized sales tax (HST). The HST applies to The Recreation Association of the Public Service of Canada, and the monthly premium rates were adjusted accordingly.

2.2 The revised rates are as follows:

3. PROCEDURES/INSTRUCTIONS

3.1 The premium rate changes were automatically processed by the Regional Pay System (RPS) on August 3, 2010, for 7C accounts only. The new rates will be applied to the deductions commencing on August 18, 2010.

3.2 Compensation advisors will be responsible for changing the premium rate for 7A and 7B accounts.

3.3 All requests for a premium adjustments for the month of July 2010 will be handled directly by The Recreation Association of the Public Service of Canada with the member.
