Prior to the transfer, the Secretariat was under the responsibility of the Minister of Infrastructure and Communities and non-statutory expenditures of approximately $1,735,743 were approved by the Minister of Infrastructure and Communities. Previous year's amounts have been restated by $6,299,819. Order in Council P.C. 2023–0768, designated the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness as the appropriate Minister for the Leaders' Debates Commission, effective July 26, 2023. Prior to the transfer, the Commission was under the responsibility of the Minister of Infrastructure and Communities and non-statutory expenditures of approximately $109,179 were approved by the Minister of Infrastructure and Communities. Previous year's amounts have been restated by $699,364. Order in Council P.C. 2023–0767, designated the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness as the appropriate Minister for the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, effective July 26, 2023. Prior to the transfer, the Office was under the responsibility of the Minister of Infrastructure and Communities and non-statutory expenditures of approximately $16,261,035 were approved by the Minister of Infrastructure and Communities. Previous year's amounts have been restated by $213,133,374. Order in Council P.C. 2023–1062, designated the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness as the appropriate Minister for the Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages, effective October 27, 2023. Prior to the transfer, the Office was under the responsibility of the Minister of Infrastructure and Communities and non-statutory expenditures of approximately $11,549,447 were approved by the Minister of Infrastructure and Communities.
